Ableton Serato team up
Oh my dear this is going to be super sweet. Two of the best music software companies teaming up for one epic product, at the moment no one knows what it’s going to be as it’s been kept very secret, but announcements are being made Thursday so I wait with anticipation to see just what it is they will produce! I already own a copy of both so hopefully whatever it is I shall be cheap and I will be able to afford it straight away. I love it when new software comes out…

Danny Byrd is by far and away one of the best producers in the drum and bass scene today, and is signed primarily to Hospital Records, the leaders in innovative liquid drum and bass. Absolute genius’s the lot of them. And you can get sample packs from their very own, personal collection from the hospital records shop. As Danny Byrd is my favourite, naturally I choose his first, although I shall certainly invest in the nu-tone and probably the other 2 too. May as well, had a lot of fun playing with the Danny Byrd one so far!

Apart from that I have sourced sample packs from external Ableton links and a few other free ones downloaded from forums etc. But there’s so much out there still to find and the search really never ends…
So along with Ableton Live is an extensive community of forums and tutorials to help the complete beginner (which I am) gain an extensive knowledge as quickly as possible. Looking at new software is sometimes daunting, although they have tried to make it as user friendly and as appealing as possible. Apart from the extensive bank of samples, instruments and tools to use it is quite easy to get around, and even then it doesn’t take long to find some samples to play around with. But to learn the real ins and outs of the program you need to watch as much tutorials and read as much info as you can on it. The first point of call is obviously the Ableton website, which has some really great features, including artist interviews and forums for problem solving and discussion, as well as a bank of both written and video tips and tricks to get you on your way.

As well as tutorials I have been offered countless free Live packs and plug ins, as well as an Upgrade to Live 8 as I bought Live just before they released Live 8. Altogether I’m impressed with them, great service and a great product, I look forward to getting involved!..

Got Ableton Live 8 through the summer, and was pleasantly surprised by its all round performance as both a DJ and music production software. It is actually the complete music package, and is capable of almost anything. And they’re teaming up with Serato for a new project. Sounds incredibly interesting!..
